It finally over. I had the most amazing experience working at the South Technology Recreational Complex. I met a lot of great people from every where. I got paid very good to intern at this job so I was not complaining at all. I learn how to manage staff when they are under you and how to communicate with staff. I had to learn technique to get the staff involve with the children but that was pretty easy. It was annoying dealing with a dependent employee then a independent that just do things with out asking. I also learn that teaching little kids soccer is tough at the beginners stage. Children have short attention expand so you always have to keep them engage at all time. None of the things that I accomplish during this internship was easy it got easier as i got use to it. As I use my marketing and sport management class lecture made me realize that we use this stuff in the real world.
If someone had this job
If someone had this job I would tell them it is not easy. The first difficult thing is having enough patience to deal with the kids. Second no social media at all. I did not use my phone this is why i have limited picture because they can be sued if I were to take any picture of children with out the parents approval. Third, are going to be days you are doing everything by yourself because your staff is lazy and it will frustrate you to the point you will think about quieting but learn how to communicate to them your issues with their action. Fourth, You don't get a lunch break or a chance to get away from the kids. You eat your lunch around the kids and you go to recess with them. Fifth, remember to laugh and remember to smile. Do not let the kids upset or change your mood because they will try to test you. Next managing a camp is awesome and the funniest summer job ever. This job is not for everybody I can tell you that. At one point i had 40 kids all trying to learn soccer that was very interesting and crazy. 40 kids was a lot to deal with especially when you have lazy non sociable staff members. At the end of the camp I did tell my boss the issues I had with my employees being super lazy. So never be to scared to speak up. Also if your boss ask you do you have any friend that would like to work with you say No. The worst thing is to have a friend that being lazy and not helping and that just hurt your relationship. That exactly what happening to me so learn from me. Overall this internship was awesome I Love it so much.
